I'm a software engineer who lives in the part of the stack most people don't see: the services, the queues, the retry logic, and lately the agents that sit on top of all three.
Most of my work starts as a problem someone described badly and ends as something boring that just runs. I write about the messy middle — the tradeoffs, the dead ends, and the bits I had to learn twice.
Backends that hold up
APIs, background workers, and data layers designed so the failure modes are obvious and the on-call night is quiet.
AI that does real work
Retrieval, tool-using agents and evaluation loops — LLM systems judged by whether they're right, not whether they're impressive.
Tools I'd want to use
This site is one: an AI writing studio, a research agent, a vector-backed assistant, and a notes library — all self-hosted.
